My 87 year old Grandma had her hip fixed. In 1985 she had the original hip replacement surgery. This is what her old hip socket looked like
it is small enough to fit in a cut that one would pee in when having to have a pee test. This is what it looked like when it was attached

If you look closely you can see that the hip is almost out of the socket. This is right before they took her in for the surgery
She had just finished telling me about when she was 5 she broke her arm(1929 was the year) living in the UP of Michigan
View Larger Mapand her father didn't have a car that had good headlights. So they woke up the neighbor across the street to drive them to the nearest doctor in Daggett who encouraged to head on down to Menominee where a specialist from Green Bay would meet them..Rehab for her broken arm was, her father built trapeze for her to bounce up and down and work the muscles in her arm. The break was almost on the elbow.
She is doing well she is in a nursing home with her own private room but she is grouchy. The recovery is taking longer then she would like and it isn't any fun living in a nursing home. She is doing the rehab thing cause well she is addicted to LIFE!!
